Email to Oppose to Regionalization

What is the Regionalization Plan?

The New York State Education Department's newly proposed Regionalization Plan would mandate that school districts engage in discussions on consolidating resources and adopting a standardized, “one-size-fits-all” approach with their respective BOCES component districts. This initiative eliminates the choice to opt out, forcing districts into a model that may not align with local needs or values. Such a plan risks implementing decisions that impact our community without input from those most affected, us, the community members.

Regionalization has the potential to alter the very fabric of our school district's operations.

In response, Superintendent Joseph Monastero, the Cold Spring Harbor Board of Education, and the district’s Administrative team have united in opposition, signing a letter addressed to the Commissioner of Education to express their serious concerns. A copy of this letter is available here for those interested in understanding our district’s stance in greater detail.
